Banana Walnut Bread

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes that I have been making for nearly the twenty years that we are married. It has remained unchanged because it is so perfect! Do try it for yourself.

I love the addition of cinnamon and nutmeg to alongside the banana, as it enhances the flavor of this quick bread. Eat it plain or even try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! You won’t be displeased!

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas

1 egg

1/3 cup melted butter

1 tbsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1/2 tbsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

Mash the bananas & melt the butter. Beat the egg with the bananas, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon & nutmeg. Add in the butter. Mix again. Add in the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well. Stir in the chopped walnuts, reserving a few for garnishing the top.

Pour the batter into a well greased loaf pan.

Bake at 350 F for 50 minutes, or until you can pierce it with a knife or skewer comes out dry.

Let cool completely before slicing.

      1. Yes, it is #3 . . . I have to lower the temp on my oven however because it came out too dark. Look at the “my story” section of FB. Does it look dry to you?
