This is one of my favorite nostalgic Greek treats. And it’s so easy to make too! One of my aunts in Kefalonia always had them in the fridge ready for guests to serve with Greek coffee. I remember them on her three tiered candy dish.
It’s the perfect no bake refrigerator dessert. All you need are some tea biscuits. Greeks have a few favorites. In this recipe I used Miranda cookies, walnuts, chocolate, butter, and honey. I skipped the added sugar as I found it unnecessary, and the honey gives it such a unique flavor.

Once you have mixed it all into a large bowl, you form it into two logs and refrigerate to solidify. Then you finally slice them and dip them into chocolate! I used Pavlidou dark chocolate. In Greece we call this “sokolata igias”, which means chocolate for health. It’s good for you, and full of antioxidants.

Ingredients:
1 package Miranda cookies
2 cups walnuts
2 tbsp Monastiri Greek honey
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 stick of butter
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cognac or brandy
2 bars of Pavlidou dark chocolate
1 tbsp of Nea Fytini (vegetable fat)
Directions:
Melt the butter on low.
In a food processor, finely grind the cookies and then the walnuts. Mix together in a bowl.
Add the honey, vanilla, cognac & mix together.
In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder with 2 tbsp of water to create a paste. Stir that into the melted butter.
Pour that into the mixture and combine.
Divide the mixture in half and roll with parchment & plastic wrap to create two logs. Put them in the refrigerator for two hours.
Melt 2 bars of dark chocolate adding a spoonful of Nea Fytini vegetable fat. This helps with dipping.
Cut the rolls into one inch slices and dip them into the chocolate. Shake off the excess. Garnish with a walnut. Refrigerate to set and enjoy!
